As foreshadowed yesterday, the EU has today published measures naming the people and organisations added to its sanctions measures (asset freezes and travel bans) against Russia, first imposed on 17 March 2014.

The new Decision and Regulation (also on the 'sanctions in force' section of this blog) add 13 people and 5 organisations said to be Ukrainian separatists involved in the disputed elections in eastern Ukraine, "in view of the continued gravity of the situation on the ground in Ukraine".  There are now 132 people and 28 entities on the EU's Russia sanctions list.

The EU has also published a notice informing them of their right to make representations to the Council of the EU about their inclusion, or challenging the legality of the measures listing them in the European court, plus another notice for the "data subjects" (the same people / entities) under the EU data protection Regulation (EC) No 45/2001 informing them that the data controller is the Council of the EU, giving contact details in relation to the data processing operation.
