The Federal Council of Switzerland has implemented new rules preventing the import of arms and related materials from Russia and Ukraine, targeting special cases, such as pyrotechnic devices and propellant powder, not previously covered under its existing import ban.

In its press release, the Federal Council states that the new rules are part of "its policy of ensuring that Switzerland cannot be misused to circumvent the measures imposed by the European Union".
